Addiction & Recovery
The substance was never the problem. It was the solution to a problem no one helped you solve.
Addiction is never the whole story. Beneath every pattern of numbing, escape, or compulsion is a pain that deserves compassionate care, not judgment. At A Wholesome Me, addiction is understood as a coping mechanism, a way the mind and body learned to survive experiences that felt unbearable.
Chani works with women and teens who are already clean and sober and are now ready to do the deeper work underneath the addiction. Relying on willpower alone only goes so far. The triggers, the cravings, the moments that make staying clean feel impossible, they come from unresolved pain that is still looking for a way out. Healing that pain is not just part of recovery. It is the foundation of lasting recovery.
Clients who do this work with Chani don't just stay sober. They begin to actually want to, because they are no longer running from something they haven't yet faced.
You might recognize yourself here if you:
- ♡Have used substances, food, alcohol, or other behaviors to quiet pain that felt too overwhelming to sit with
- ♡Are clean and sober but still feel like something underneath has not been resolved
- ♡Find yourself exhausted by how hard staying clean still feels
- ♡Know intellectually why you want to stay clean but emotionally it still feels like a daily battle
- ♡Have been through treatment or recovery programs but feel like the deeper work is still waiting
- ♡Are ready to understand not just the addiction but the pain that made it feel necessary in the first place
Please note: A Wholesome Me works with clients who have already achieved sobriety. If you are in active addiction and need immediate support, SAMHSA's National Helpline is available 24 hours a day at 1-800-662-4357, free and confidential.
You were not escaping life. You were escaping pain that had nowhere else to go. Now there is somewhere for it to go.
